It took a successful 24+ year career as a manager and leader in three different industries to fully understand that I didn’t really know that much about leadership and management. My background in engineering sure didn’t prepare me to lead others, let alone myself. Other than a handful of courses on basic management, that I enrolled in on my own, and a bit of corporate leadership training, it was trial by fire.
What I also found is that most companies spend a lot of time and resources on technical skills and do not focus enough on developing the way they manage and lead their people. It is the core of creating a company culture and environment where your human capitol can perform at their best resulting in real business results. You can hire the best talent available, and pay them the best, but the way they engage, perform, and contribute to your organization is directly related to how they are managed and led.
That is why when given an opportunity to be an authorized Crestcom International partner, I created Hoffman Management Solutions. Our goals are to help develop the next generation of leaders to be even better than the last, and to deliver sustainable organizational improvement to our clients.
